Beijing shop wins agency of the year at 2010 Digital Media Awards

BEIJING - Ogilvy One/ Neo@Ogilvy Bejing was named digital agency of the year at last night’s 2010 Digital Media Awards, held at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Beijing.

The agency of the year award is given to the individual office that obtains the highest aggregate score from points allocated across all of the separate categories at the Digital Media Awards.

The Ogilvy One China team scored across a range of categories picking up three silver and three bronze in total. 

The agency's 'The proposal' campaign for IBM won silver in both the Best Viral Marketing and Best B2B categories. A third silver was awarded in the Best Website category for the agency's 'Mystery egg' campaign for Lenovo.

'Mystery egg' also won a bronze in the best Integrated Category, while a second bronze was awarded in the Best Automotive category for its 'The colour of your city' work for automaker Volkswagen.

"Winning 2010 Digital Agency of the Year is wonderful recognition for us and also for our clients that entrusted us to develop the exciting - and sometimes daring - work that contributed to this win," said Chris Reitermann, president of Ogilvy One Greater China (pictured, left).

"We are extremely pleased that the full breadth of our digital offering - including Neo@Ogilvy, our recently expanded Digital Lab, iconmobile and our core Ogilvy One business contributed to this win," he added.

Elsewhere, the big winner on the night was BBDO Colenso/ Aim Proximity, which took home the prestigious Platinum award for its 'Yellow chocolate' campaign for Yellow Pages in New Zealand.

Yellow Pages was also named the Digital Brand of the Year, while 'Yellow chocolate' picked up gold awards in the Best Media Innovation and Best Integrated categories.

In the other major awards of the night, Amanda King, president of Tribal DDB Asia-Pacific, was named Digital Agency Head of the Year, while Matt Batten from Wunderman Australia was named Digital Creative of the Year and Aryeh Sternberg took the award for Digital Rising Star of the Year.

The Digital Media Awards honours the best in digital marketing and communications in the Asia Pacific region, highlighting breakthrough work that demonstrates outstanding creativity and effectiveness across the industry.

The award show is now in its fourth year and this year saw a record number of entries - 644, an almost 50 per cent increase from the previous year. Overall, 63 awards were given out on the night, including 11 gold, 19 silver, 27 bronze.
