Adults form the majority of Southeast Asian gamers

BANGKOK - Casual gaming is no longer just for kids. Digital media planning solutions provider Effective Measure has found that nearly eight in 10 Southeast Asian gamers are aged between 21 and 60.

Adults form the majority of Southeast Asian gamers

"Out of over 17 million users in Southeast Asia on the gaming sites measured by Effective Measure in October, most are young to older adults," commented Effective Measure regional director for Southeast Asia, Russel Conrad.

Online gaming appeals not only to urbanites but also to those living in more rural areas, he continued. "Gaming audiences in capital cities are only eight per cent more than those in the countryside and other cities. This provides marketers a great opportunity to reach out to a relatively untapped subsegment."

Top gaming nations are Thailand and Vietnam, with Southeast Asia's top five gaming sites coming from these two nations, possibly driven by local language gaming sites that cater to the population, said Conrad.
