Volvo is also understood to have appointed MindShare to handle its digital media business, which was previously held by Hakuhodo. The reasons for the decisions are unclear, although both companies previously worked with MindShare in other areas of media planning and buying.

The move by Volvo follows the switch of its strategic planning business from Dentsu Y&R to the GroupM agency earlier this year. Nike’s creative account in Japan is handled by Wieden & Kennedy, while Volvo is aligned with Nitro, which launched an operation in Tokyo this year.
