A Hotline spokesperson confirmed the news.

Eight agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi and incumbent JWT were initially invited to pitch for the account. JWT has handled the account for the last four years.

Extra Joss’ media is currently being handled by Initiative, which won the account in 2006.

The powdered energy drink is a leader in Indonesia's fast-growing concentrates category and is manufactured by Bintang Toedjoe, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s biggest pharmaceutical company, Kalbe Farma Group.

Extra Joss covers more than 46 per cent of the country’s US$124.6 million drinks market and enjoyed $14.6 million in sales in 2008.

Following successful expansion into Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines, where Extra Joss now has 80 per cent market share, Bintang Toedjoe is also looking to export the energy drink into more markets including Thailand and India.
