Indian electronics maker Havells has appointed Archetype (formerly Text100) as its PR partner for the India region, following a multi-agency pitch. Archetype will be responsible for corporate and product communications along with strategy and product campaigns.  Text100 recently rebranded as Archetype after the merger of agencies Text100 and Bite.

Prodigious Singapore, the creative production arm of Publicis Groupe, appointed Shayne Pooley as chief creative officer. Pooley has more than 30 years of experience in Australia, Singapore, London and Hong Kong and spent more than two-thirds of his career at Ogilvy and Hogarth. Most recently he was ECD of Ogilvy Redworks. He has delivered work in branding, CRM, digital and content for clients such as Prudential, Qantas, Adidas, Caterpillar, American Express, and Singtel, and has over 300 international awards. In his new role, he will focus on elevating the creative offering of Prodigious, specifically integrated campaigns, content, digital, social, production and post production. He will report to Lou Dela Pena, CEO of Publicis Communications.

Omnicom communications consultancy Portland has appointed Georgina Mallory as its new director in Singapore, the agency’s APAC headquarters. She first worked for Portland back in 2012, based in London, focusing on NGO and government clients. Most recently, she was head of content and leadership communications at the UK government’s Department for International Trade. Before that, she worked in Singapore as account director at Weber Shandwick and associate director at Burson Marsteller. 

Experience agency Imagination appointed former Accenture and Google executive Justin Baird as head of technology in Asia Pacific. As MD of R&D technology and innovation at Accenture, Baird led the launch of that company's Liquid Labs program across Asia Pacific, and directed and produced the Accenture Interactive Orchestra for Adobe Symposium 2017, which saw an industrial robot programmed with AI play and feature as a soloist at the Sydney Opera House. At Hanson Robotics, he helped deliver creative robotic performances, including an AI based text-to-singing system for Sophia the Robot, which made its debut in a duet with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show. At Google he helped launch YouTube portals across Asia Pacific, patented Google Underwater Street View and supported numerous consumer product releases. 

Jeroen Fermie has joined Golin Hong Kong as executive director overseeing the agency’s corporate reputation business with a focus on bringing to life the agency’s Progressive PR position. Fermie was previously based in Hanoi as General Manager, Vietnam for MSLGROUP. His overall experience in Europe and Asia includes senior roles at multiple global PR agencies where he has led corporate reputation, change management and internal communications, and crisis teams across financial services, logistics and technology, F&B and FMCG.

Pernod Ricard China appointed Wavemaker as media agency of record. Wavemaker will handle media planning and buying, as well as integrated e-commerce media strategy and content planning, for the company's entire portfolio of brands, which includes Martell, Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s, Royal Salute, The Glenlivet, Jameson, Absolut, Beefeater, Havana Club, Monkey 47, Perrier-Jouët, Mumm and Jacob’s Creek. The agency has set up a dedicated, integrated team in Shanghai to manage the account.

Australian media monitoring firm Isentia is promoting Russ Horell to chief commercial officer, effective November 25th. He replaces Sean Smith, who will leave Isentia at the end of 2019. Horell was most recently country manager for New Zealand and manager for Queensland.

Secret Recipe, a cakes and café chain in Malaysia, extended its partnership with digital network Lion & Lion for another year after a two-year engagement that grew the brand’s fan base on social platforms by 49%. The agency will roll out the brand’s next campaign, 'The Secret Recipe to Happiness, Celebrating 22 years of Sweet Moments'. Lion & Lion will also continue to manage the brand's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. 

Airbnb appoints Belle Baldoza as its head of communications for Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Baldoza was previously director of global communications at ByteDance; head of APAC consumer communications at Uber; and consumer PR lead at Netflix. In her new role at Airbnb, she will scale communications and media relations efforts in her assigned markets. 

Marketing-focused blockchain company Aqilliz appointed Prateek Dayal, formerly APAC innovation SVP at HSBC, as chief strategy officer. Dayal has experience at Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays Bank and McKinsey & Company.

Gaming and esports media company Ampverse has appointed Jenny Hall and Sutthathep Makmee in two newly created sales roles to help continue to grow the company's expansion in Southeast Asia. Hall has been appointed as director for sales and brand partnerships in Southeast Asia. Based in Singapore, Hall joins the Ampverse team with over 10 years of experience in brand partnerships and global clients sales, most recently as director of brand partnerships at Talenthouse. Makmee joins Ampverse as head of sales for Thailand, bringing over 18 years experience in the mobile and online industry, having held sales and marketing roles at DAZN, Komli Media, True Digital, BECi Corporation and Samsung Electronics. Both new appointments will report into chief commercial officer Charlie Baillie.

Award School, a training programme for aspiring copywriters and art directors run by the Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association, named Mandie van der Merwe, ECD at M&C Saatchi Sydney, as new national and NSW school head for 2020, and Chris Ellis, creative director at Cummins & Partners, as new Victoria school head. Van der Merwe joins Josie Burns, Host/Havas Sydney creative director, who became national and NSW school head last year, and takes over from Karen Ferry, who had been national school head since August 2017. Ellis will serve alongside Jess Wheeler, associate creative director and partner at Fenton Stephens, who was appointed last year, and takes over from Sarah McGregor. The Western Australia school head is Rikki Burns, creative director at Meerkats, the Queensland school head is Benjamin Davis, ECD at McCann Queensland, and the South Australia and Northern Territory school head is Nick Brz, creative director at Nation Creative.
