Archetype partnered with enterprise incubator Mach49 to launch Australian solar startup Clipsal Solar. The agency has been appointed to lead all marketing strategy and creative for the company, which was spun out of French giant Schneider Electric to disrupt the energy market in Australia. Clipsal Solar provides data analytics for Australian households to help cut energy bills. Clipsal Solar was incubated and launched in just 12 weeks by internal entrepreneurs within Schneider Electric.

Cadreon Malaysia, the adtech unit of IPG Mediabrands, appointed Micaela Soyza as campaign director. She was previously country manager for Ydigital Asia in Malaysia. She will focus on programmatic best practices and technologies, on translating brand campaigns into measurable digital KPIs, on optimisation, and on clearly communicating results via custom reporting live dashboards and presentations.

Following a multi-agency pitch, Mullen Lintas won the creative mandate for Marico’s Saffola portfolio. The brand offers heart-healthy foods. Mullen Lintas has set up a multi-disciplinary team in its Mumbai office to handle the mandate for the Saffola portfolio of brands.

BMF appointed Kinga Papp to lead Aldi’s strategy as group strategy director. She was previously head of brand at CHE Proximity, where she led strategy on eBay, Danone and FlyBuys NZ. She has also worked at Saatchi & Saatchi London and MediaCom Beyond Advertising.

eToro, a global multi-asset trading and investment platform, appointed Sefiani as its communications agency in Australia following a pitch. The agency will be tasked to build financial literacy among Australia’s everyday investors and traders. eToro has more than 11 million registered users globally.

Dentsu Aegis Network China appointed Yuichi Toyoda as CEO for Dentsu One China. He was previously president and CEO for Dentsu One Thailand and also has experience in Japan and India. He will lead the team across its Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Wuhan offices to drive integrated and strategic solutions and ensure "maximum marketing and business value for clients", the company said.

Ng Tian It has joined Publicis Groupe as a dedicated executive creative director for the Health Promotion Board Singapore, as of 20th August. Ng is returning to Singapore after a decade in China where he held various creative leadership roles in global agencies such as McCann Worldgroup China, DDB Group, and Saatchi & Saatchi. Prior to that, he served as Executive Creative Director at McCann Singapore.

Brand-experience agency Freeman has appointed Sunny Lai as executive creative director in Singapore. Lai was previously ECD at Leo Burnett Shanghai, and has had stints at J. Walter Thompson Shanghai, Lowe, Publicis133, Razorfish and Reload. Lai will now report to Ian Terry, MD at Freeman Singapore. 

Edelman Shanghai has appointed Christina Chan as vice president of branding and Ee Ghim Chua as director of brand reputation. Chan was previously at Ogilvy Hong Kong before transferring to Shanghai in 2005. Prior to this she, she was handling comms for the P&G account at Saatchi & Saatchi. Meanwhile, Chua was previously based in Singapore and Hong Kong and specializes in brand reputation for MNCs in North Asia.

Reprise Malaysia hired two new creative directors, Jarrod Reginald and Eddy Nazarullah. Reginald joined from Ogilvy Malaysia, where he spent 12 years and was most recently creative director, overseeing brands including Guinness, Coca-Cola and CIMB. Nazarullah was previously at MullenLowe Malaysia and Leo Burnett Malaysia, and has worked with brands such as Huawei, Samsung and Proton.

Halal beauty brand Safi selected Lion & Lion as its digital marketing partner for Indonesia. The agency will be responsible for the overall digital strategy, content development and social management. Safi has been in Malaysia for more than 30 years and launched in Indonesia in early 2018. Its products are available in various cosmetics stores, supermarkets and health and beauty shops.

RTG Holdings Singapore, parent company of the Liho Tea chain, hired Vintedge as its social media agency in Malaysia. Vintedge will handle creative strategy and content across Liho's social channels. 

MediaCom won the PlayStation media account for Southeast Asia following a competitive pitch. The appointment covers media planning and buying across all channels. MediaCom has worked with the client since 2016 in both the US and across EMEA.

Popo Hu, previously general manager of Dentsu Hong Kong, has been promoted to managing director. This is the latest move in a career at Dentsu that started in 2000: Hu's direct report, Pauline Chu, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network HK, said Hu's leadership has led to a "strong and collaborative working culture" at the agency. 

Nikhil Maharaj has joined BBDO India from Lowe Lintas, as general manager of the Delhi office and chief growth officer for BBDO India as a whole. He is joined by Akashneel Dasgupta, who becomes the Delhi brand's new chief creative officer.

Verizon Media’s Yahoo has appointed Esther Au Yong as editor-in-chief of news and finance for Southeast Asia. She will be responsible for leading all editorial initiatives and accelerating Yahoo’s growth in the region. Au Yong, who was most recently a content strategist at Grab, was previously deputy editor-in-chief of the news site between 2013 and 2015. In a career spanning 19 years, she has written and edited for the Singapore Press Holdings group and Mediacorp, and contributed to regional publications such as the South China Morning Post and China Daily.

Travel marketing science firm Adphorus, which focuses on Facebook and Instagram campaigns is expanding into APAC with the appointment of William Chan as sales director, Asia-Pacific (APAC). Chan previously led sales teams across Asia-Pacific for companies like ada and AdParlor and managed media sales at Electronic Arts (EA) in EMEA. The announcement follows recent expansion by Adphorus' parent company, Sojern in APAC.

RTG Consulting Group launched a new office in Singapore and appointed Mahesan M general manager. It also announced the appointment of Jeremy Cheung as the general manager of the group’s Greater China marketing communications division RTG INSPIRE in Shanghai. Mahesan M has over 20 years of experience working with corporate brands and government entities, while Cheung previously worked in Galaxy Entertainment Group (Macau), Weber Shandwick Hong Kong and Impact Asia (renamed later as Cohn & Wolfe) during his over 20-year career.
