Brett Stewart departs McCann Worldgroup, Clinton Simpson resigns IPG Mediabrands

SINGAPORE - McCann Worldgroup has confirmed the resignation of Brett Stewart, the global managing partner in charge of the Cathay-Pacific's media interest. Meanwhile, Clinton Simpson has resigned his post as managing partner Asia, IPG Mediabrands, a position he's held for a year.

Stewart took the position on McCann's Cathay Pacific Central Team in June 2005 after working at UM in San Francisco, where he was responsible for the global media interests of Microsoft Corporation.

"We thank Brett for his valuable contribution, where together we led the Cathay Pacific business across 27 markets globally, and wish him well in his exciting next chapter," said Vince Viola, managing director and executive vice-president of McCann Worldgroup. The agency said it is seeking a replacement, and did not disclose a reason for the departure or Stewart's next move. 

Clinton's resignation comes a year after taking the post a managing partner, Asia. Prior to that, he was managing director of UM and Initiative Singapore for two years after joining Mediabrands from Bellamy Hayden in Sydney Australia, where he was general manager. 

Prashant Kumar, president IPG Mediabrands, World Markets Asia wishes Clinton all the best for the future. “Since joining IPG Mediabrands in 2009, Clinton has seen the region grow and develop under his leadership," Kumar said. "We wish him the best in his future endeavours.”

IPG Mediabrands is working to find a suitable successor and look to the fill the regional role in the near future. It is not clear at present what Simpson's next move will be.
