BBC Knowledge to carry advertising in Asia

SINGAPORE - BBC Worldwide Channels is planning to introduce advertising to its 24-hour BBC Knowledge channel next month as it looks to diversify its revenue streams.

According to a statement from the broadcaster, advertising sales will be handled by its regional sales team in Singapore.

The statement claimed that BBC Knowledge would help advertisers reach an upscale audience “through a combination of traditional advertising spots and creative solutions tailored to the client’s needs.”

The channel is available on cable and satellite platforms in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea and Australia. It includes a range of factual and documentary programmes, and is subtitled in Chinese and Indonesian in the relevant markets.

Other BBC channels carrying advertising in the region include BBC World News, BBC.com and BBC mobile.
