Devondale sticks with off-kilter humour for smoothie campaign

AUSTRALIA - A horse-human hybrid teacher named Mr. Vanderhoof stars in a commercial for a new Devondale smoothie product that blends milk and real fruit.

Last year, the brand and its agency, DDB Melbourne, released a series of ads involving uncomfortable situations, such as one where hard butter led to awkward family revelations.

Claiming that the twisted humour won the hearts of Australians, the team is adding a "new dimension" to push the boundaries a bit more this time, according to Darren Spiller, executive creative director. That said, the product and a human insight still drive the campaign, he added.
