WWF, Ogilvy PR win big at Asia-Pacific PR Awards 2009

HONG KONG - WWF and Leo Burnett Sydney's 'Earth hour 2009' campaign scooped the gold award for Campaign of the Year at the Asia-Pacific PR Awards, held at Hong Kong's exclusive China Club last night.

The campaign shared he gold with Dentsu Public Relations and Japan Dairy Council's 'Japan's milk price problem: the 30-year challenge' campaign to the top prize in a neck-and-neck race. 

WWF also won prizes in the Regional PR and Environmental categories.

Ogilvy PR Worldwide was awarded gold for Asia-Pacific Network of the Year, Golin Harris scooped the trophy for PR Consultancy of the Year. Other winners included Mahindra & Mahindra, which won gold for Brand Communicator of the Year, and Hill & Knowlton's chief executive officer Jimmy Tay, who won the award for PR Agency Head of the Year. Text 100 Asia-Pacific was given an honourable mention for Mid-Sized Network of the Year. 

With a limited number of places, 167 PR executives and clients gathered at the awards show, now in its ninth year.

This year the awards saw a total of 337 entries, compared to 320 in 2008.
