The app carries suggestions on food and beverage, entertainment, shopping, bookshops, massages and cool hangouts as recommended by the agency’s employees.
The agency explained that back in 2008, they put together a pamphlet with travel tips for friends and newcomers to the city who dropped by their office. A year later, version 2.0 was launched in the form of a website followed by version 3.0, a free 'talking guide book' smartphone app with user-friendly features like spoken messages in three languages, including Mandarin, English and Shanghainese, last week.
The app coincides with the launch of Nokia Ovi in China, W+K's global client of four years. In addition to Nokia Ovi, the app is also available to iPhone users.
"The different between the W+K Shanghai guidebook and others is twofold. In terms of content our app delivers a much more authentic Shanghai experience as it draws upon the secret favourite places and inside tips you only gain by living in the city," said Kel Hook, the agency's MD.
He added that from a user experience, the app makes it easier to customise a range of experiences and navigate the city.
