Volkswagen kicks off two pitches in China

SHANGHAI - Volkswagen's Chinese businesses are believed to have called two creative pitches, with agencies awaiting a final result.

Volkswagen kicks off two pitches in China
Shanghai Volkswagen is reviewing the creative and strategic business for its Passat, Polo, Touran and Santana models in China.

Sources close to review, which took place just after Golden Week in China, have linked TBWA's Creative Juice, DDB China Group, Saatchi & Saatchi, Shanghai Advertising, Shanghai Adcorp and another local agency to the pitch.

A result is thought to be due imminently.

Separately, Volkswagen has called a review for its imported car business. Agencies involved are believed to be DDB, DMB, Ogilvy & Mather, Grey and TBWA.

In August, DDB China Group scooped a new project for Shanghai Volkswagen in a five-way shoot out, expanding the agency's relationship with the auto client. Other agencies believed to be involved in the pitch also included TBWA's Creative Juice, Saatchi & Saatchi and Shanghai Advertising.

Shanghai Volkswagen, a joint-venture company with Volkswagen, handles many of Volkswagen's leading brands including Lavida, Passat New Lingyu, Polo/Cross Polo, Touran and Santana. It recently appointed MediaCom to handle digital media buying.
