The account was awarded to SMG following a competitive three-way pitch and a three-month tender process. Starcom was the incumbent.

In its ninth year, Get Reading is an Australian Government initiative managed through the Australia Council for the Arts. It is the country’s largest annual promotion of books and reading, and was formerly known as Books Alive.

To be launched in September, the initiative encourages Australians to focus on reading for pleasure and education. This year, the campaign will involve consumer retail offers, local authors as campaign ambassadors as well as a national tour to promote reading.

Starcom will handle all communication planning and buying as well as the coordination of content and event management programmes to promote the initiative.

The Publicis Groupe agency will also look to measure the success of the campaign through effectiveness and proprietary research to help understand the campaign’s impact on reading trends across the country.

On the account win, Starcom MediaVest Group Australia CEO, John Sintras, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for our business to win this account for a second term. We are confident that the breadth of Starcom’s integrated service offering, will deliver exceptional results for this campaign again this year.”
