Saatchi & Saatchi X adds new blood for Greater China

GUANGZHOU - Saatchi & Saatchi X has hired two senior executives: Eugene Choong as senior account director; and Simon Clancy as senior planner for its shopper marketing Greater China and Asia-Pacific team.

Choong came on board to the agency’s Guangzhou office on 11 July from his home country in Singapore, bringing with him 14 years of experience in integrated communications and brand activation in several 4A agencies. He has previously managed key accounts including Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, Unilever, Philips, Singapore Airlines, Sony Ericsson, Sensodyne and Ribena.

At Saatchi & Saatchi X, he will be involved in driving business development in the Asia Pacific region in addition to working on the Procter & Gamble and Lonovo accounts. Choong will report to Sarah Anerson, regional account director, who is also based in Guangzhou.

Meanwhile Clancy has relocated to Guangzhou from Tokyo where he worked as a strategy consultant at Interbrand from 2007. There,  he was responsible for strategy on global accounts for the agency's integrated strategy division and worked with Panasonic, Fujitsu and  Sony. He was also previously based at Hakuhodo Brand Consulting working in the hypermarket retail space in Japan.

Earlier this year, the agency hired former MD at Numsight Michael Tan as managing director of its Asia Pacific region, replacing the outgoing John Steere.
