iKanTV reaches untapped markets

HONG KONG - China Outdoor Media Group (COMG) has set up subsidiary iKanTV, an outdoor TV advertising platform in Hong Kong and Guangdong, that targets SMEs wanting to do cross-border marketing campaigns in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta - including the untapped rural population.

The network covers 4,000 buses in Guangdong, 1,000 spots in state-run shops in the Pearl River Delta, and more than 100 Japan Home Centres in Hong Kong.

“The unique part of our network versus other existing outdoor TV advertising companies, is that we partner mainland Government departments and retail chains, covering around 5,000 spots in Hong Kong and Guangdong of which 1,000 spots cover not only high-dense city populations in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan, but also rural areas through its state-run shops network, which is beneficial for companies to reach out to the untapped rural populations,” said Joseph Lau (pictured), CEO of COMG.

Beijing has tried to relieve the sting of the global financial crisis by reaching out to untapped domestic markets in rural areas.

China Mobile, Coca-Cola, Nokia and Sony are some of the advertisers using the new platform.
