HSBC China marketing head Pang returns to Hong Kong

HONG KONG - Janet Pang has relocated back to HSBC Hong Kong after a year with HSBC China in Shanghai.

HSBC China marketing head Pang returns to Hong Kong

HSBC China promoted Pang (pictured) to head of marketing a year ago, at which time she relocated to Shanghai.

Having returned to Hong Kong, Pang has taken over the marketing head role in Hong Kong, as Audrey Wong, another HSBC marketing veteran, moved to a regional role in March.

The company is still working to fill the head of marketing role for HSBC China in Shanghai, a source close to HSBC said.

Pang was previously head of marketing and research of the personal finance service division for Asia-Pacific. Over 10 years with HSBC, she has taken on senior management roles in product development, marketing and customer experience, as a well as a short stint being seconded to HSBC Malaysia to work on the Amanah business proposition for Islamic banking.

Before joining HSBC, Pang worked for Citibank and Chase Manhattan. Outside of banking, she has also worked for Sony Music, CSL and Hong Kong Telecom, as well as 4A agencies like Bates and JWT.

According to a Financial Times article on 12 March quiting Peter Wong, chief executive of HSBC in Asia, the bank will focus on six core Asian markets outside of Hong Kong (Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore) plus fast-growing strategic markets Taiwan and Vietnam.
