Gearing to head up Rapp China

SHANGHAI - Former general manager of TBWATequila Beijing Ross Gearing (pictured) has been appointed managing director of DDB Group's CRM outfit Rapp China.

Gearing replaces David King, who departed the agency in November to assume the role of China CEO of Iris Worldwide.

According to the agency, Gearing has lived in China for 10 years and has cultivated an expertise in the areas of data acquisition, qualification, customer engagement and program measurement.

Most recently, Gearing held executive positions at TBWA, and was promoted to GM of Beijing in 2006 from Tequila Shanghai’s director of CRM.

At Rapp, Gearing will report to president and CEO of DDB China Group Dick van Motman and will work with key clients including the Intercontinental Hotel Group, Johnnie Walker and Friso.

He will be based in Shanghai and will preside over 40 full-time staff.
