A source from the agency’s headquarters in Seoul confirmed the news, explaining that Cheil planned to focus on China, India, Singapore and Thailand in the region.

Aside from parent company Samsung, Cheil Malaysia’s key client is understood to have been U Mobile, a domestic 3G service provider owned by U Television and NTT DoCoMo. U Mobile was reported in April to be launching a pitch. The agency was established in 2006.

Representatives from the agency in Kuala Lumpur could not be reached for comment on the development. Their next move is as yet unknown.
