
New wireless media players and manufacturers such as CCTV.com’s mobile division, China Radio International Communications, Nokia, Samsung, Lenovo, A8 Music Group, as well as dozens of big brand advertisers like Sony and Pepsi who might be interested in branded contents and product placement opportunities attended.
The Forum gathered a group 24 up-and-coming indie directors and production teams (who were chosen from more than 100 applicants) to meet with potential content investors and buyers, by competing to pitch their “made for internet” creative video shooting projects.
The projects were divided into four categories: drama, reality show, animation, and music/entertainment.
Tudou also announced a strategic alliance with the China Film Group Corporation (CFGC), the biggest movie publisher and producer in China, for establishing a joint creative production fund to finance selected teams from Tudou Video Festival final award nomination list. Size of the funding is at least a few millions RMB for the first year.
Tudou founder and CEO Gary Wang (picture) said: “I believe the only way to grow and differentiate the bourgeoning internet video category is to inject serious cash into the production side. Tudou’s Video Financing Forum will continue to serve as an open platform, to be two-way and transparent bringing content sellers and buyers together.”
