The new company will be headed by Aston Tan, who joins from private equity trade publication PEI Media, where he was a journalist.

Ryan Financial supports business development in the region, by assisting in corporate positioning, stakeholder communications, media relations, thought leadership, issues management and spokesperson coaching.

Damien Ryan, managing director of Ryan Financial Communications, said the expansion is an exciting development for the company as it is seeing stronger interest for independent representation, particularly among institutional financial clients, in markets including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

“Aston Tan is an experienced finance reporter who understands the communication challenges facing businesses, such as fund managers, as they expand in Asia. He will be a strong addition to our growing team, given his mix of industry knowledge, local experience and flair for communications, which our clients certainly value.”

Tan will also be supporting existing clients in their ongoing needs in Southeast Asia and building the team in Singapore to support future business growth.

Based in Hong Kong, Ryan Financial Communications was launched in 2007. Its clients now include banks, brokers, private equity funds, hedge funds and professional services firms.

The company expects to open its next office in Mainland China next year.
