The company is still looking for his successor.

According to an industry source Lin will join a new media company based in Shanghai.

Lin has over 18 years' experience in the media planning industry in Greater China. He had held various senior media director roles with agencies like FCB Guangzhou, MediaCom China and Hong Kong, and JWT Shanghai.

He was one of the very few Hong Kong 4A agency talents who volunteered to be transferred to the mainland at a time when most people considered China a hardship post.

Currently, McDonald's directly operates the majority of its estimated 1,200 restaurants in the country. It's major rival KFC has over 2,600 but operates through a franchise system.
