According to industry executives, IPG Mediabrands' UM and a GroupM were the other two agencies.

The fast-fashion giant is expected to launch its first store in Indonesia this year in collaboration with franchiser J.S. Gill, which was also responsible for opening H&M in Thailand.

The pitch concluded in March.

In 2011, H&M entered the Southeast Asian market when it launched its first store in Singapore. Within a year it opened up stores in Malaysia and Thailand. The retailer is now setting up stores in Australia and India.
