Cannes winners: Japan tops Design, India leads Press (and yes, more awards for 'Dumb Ways')

CANNES - The campaign you're tired of hearing about won another Grand Prix and seven more Gold Lions last night, but many Asia-Pacific agencies not named McCann also have cause to cheer this morning following the Cyber, Design, Press and Radio awards.

'Dumb Ways to Die' picked up a Grand Prix and two Gold Lions in the Radio category, plus an incredible five Golds (and one Silver) in Cyber. The campaign has now won a total of 19 awards: three Grand Prix, 14 Golds and two Silvers. Time to reinforce the trophy shelf at McCann Melbourne.

Elsewhere, Japan dominated the Design category, with six agencies racking up eight Gold Lions among a total of 14 awards for the country. India also had a strong showing in Design, with two Golds and a total of 12 awards. India stood out in the Press category as well, with four Gold Lions among a total of 11 awards.

Several agencies can boast today about campaigns that won two Gold Lions, including Dentsu Tokyo in Design; Illusion Bangkok / Lowe Bangkok, JWT Shanghai and McCann Worldgroup India Mumbai in Press; and Draftfcb New Zealand Auckland in Radio.
