Unitech Wireless appoints Leo Burnett

MUMBAI - Unitech Wireless, the Indian arm of Norwegian telecoms group Telenor, has appointed Leo Burnett as its creative partner after a competitive multi-agency pitch.

Unitech Wireless appoints Leo Burnett
The agency will build awareness of the new brand in India by developing and implementing an integrated brand communications strategy.

David Meneghello, head of sales and marketing at Unitech Wireless, said: “The telecoms category and the mobile consumer are evolving rapidly and it is important that we sharply focus on consumer segmentation and consumer insights. We look forward to working with Leo Burnett on everything from product propositions through to robust go-to-market communications strategies”.

Jarek Ziebinski (pictured), president of Asia-Pacific for Leo Burnett added: “Mobile telecommunications is not only one of the fastest-growing industries today, it is also one of Leo Burnett’s core competencies both regionally and globally.”

In May this year Telenor acquired a 49 per cent stake in Unitech Wireless. The Norwegian firm plans to increase that stake to 74 per cent.

Unitech is expected to launch mobile voice services by the end of this year.
