Taobao Mall granted independent domain www.tmall.com

BEIJING – B2C portal Taobao Mall in China is moving addresses to an independent platform www.tmall.com.

Taobao Mall was previously sited under mall.taobao.com. Alibaba Group has now given it a domain on its own at tmall.com.

Launched in 2008, recent developments for Taobao Mall include teaming up with Wasu Media to launch digital shopping portal Wasu TV Taobao Mall via television.

In September, Zenith Media China was awarded with the company's media business and Lowe China appointed as creative agency.

Reported yesterday, Taobao Mall is investing US$3 million over the next three months on a brand building campaign designed to drive traffic to its site.

Taobao Mall partners with registered businesses like Nokia, Uniqlo, Adidas, P&G and Lenovo whereas Taobao is an e-commerce portal for Chinese citizens.

"Taobao Mall aims to raise the standards of the online retail experience for Chinese consumers and the key is to re-organise the e-commerce value chain in accordance to the unique characteristics of each product or geographic vertical," said Daniel Zhang, CFO of Taobao.
