GLOBAL - Starcom MediaVest Group has named Andrew Swinand (pictured) to the newly-created role of president of global operations, in Laura Desmond's first major management appointment since assuming the global CEO role at the agency in June.

Starcom names Swinand to new global role
The new role is aiming to strengthen the agency’s operations in Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Emea, and will see Swinand take on oversight of these areas. In Asia he will work closely with regional CEOs Ravi Karin and Paul Maher. Swinand joins from sister agency Denuo, where he was COO; prior to that he was president at Starcom Worldwide. He will continue to oversee the Nintendo account across Starcom and Leo Burnett.

“Andrew’s experiences, successes and global perspective ideally qualify him to assume the newly-created global role,” said Desmond in a statement. “He has a great talent for team-building and a powerful presence with clients, and we intend to leverage those strengths to unify our organisation and strategically grow our business.”
