OMD Australia appoints Paul Gilbert as Head of Social

SYDNEY - Paul Gilbert, formerly head of start-up social media agency We Manage Social, has joined OMD as national director of its social media specialist group OMD Word.

Gilbert brings over 11 years of digital media and new media experience within the Australian market place. He has worked across a wide range of industry sectors including retail, FMCG, telecoms, finance and TV broadcasting. The agency says he is known for successfully managing and developing digital media teams, focusing on creating unique content and ensuring clients successfully leverage their brands across new and emerging channels.

Prior to his work with We Manage Social, Gilvert held a number of key roles within Australian new media. These included positions as head of digital for Hyro Digital Media, and head of new media at IMG World.

Alistair Henderson, national head of strategy at OMD said Gilbert would be charged with leading the growth of OMD's social media offering and its ntegration with the agency’s combined skillset. "Paul has deep digital experience that goes to the heart of enterprise digital strategy," he said. "He will add substantially to the strategic, creative and commercial thinking we provide OMD clients."

Gilbert will be based in Sydney and will report to Henderson. He will also work closely with the newly-appointed scoial media strategist Grace Gordon, who is set to join OMD's Melbourne office shortly.
