InterContinental Hotels Group has snapped up Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas from private equity fund Pegasus Capital Advisors for US$300mil. The sale includes the management of 16 hotels and resorts, 37 spas, and sister companies Evason and Raison d’Etre.

Following the acquisition, Six Senses is expected to grow to 60 hotels within the next 10 years including those in “surprising” locations such as the private island of Krabey in Cambodia, a five-lodge property in Bhutan, and a 14th-century-old restored fort in Rajasthan.

The group also has a “dream list” which includes a desert hideaway in Israel’s Negev Desert, and the transformation of a cluster of 19th-century mansions in Istanbul. Additional projects are currently underway in China, Taiwan and Thailand.

The Six Senses brand is known for its wellness offerings and commitment to “purposeful travel”. The Six Senses Spa has also become synonymous to the brand with each property offering local menus and yogic programmes.
