He will be responsible for overseeing the office’s daily management and expanding its overall communications capabilities. He joins from McKinsey & Company where he spent six years following two previous appointments at Ogilvy and British American Tobacco.

He reports to Li Hong, president and senior partner of Fleishman-Hillard’s Mainland China network.

In addition, the agency has hired Shijun Ma as vice president and deputy general manager in Shanghai, responsible for expanding Fleishman-Hillard’s business-to-consumer client portfolio and strengthening its integrated-marketing offerings.

Ma has a background in broadcast journalism and has consulted for mainland agencies, including Edelman and Manning Selvage & Lee in Shanghai, on matters involving the automotive, electronics, pharmaceutical, financial services and manufacturing industries.

Fleishman‐Hillard, an Omnicom Group agency, launched in Asia-Pacific in 1994. Its China operations include offices in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

Fleishman-Hillard additionally appointed former Text 100 regional client advocate Shafaat Hussain as its senior vice-president in Singapore.

The news comes as PR agencies across the region have started off 2010 by reorganising their executive management. Burson-Marsteller today named Bob Pickard as Asia-Pacific chief, and Ogilvy PR’s regional CEO Steve Dahllof began his role earlier this month.
