At the awards ceremony, which took place Thursday evening London time, the organisation handed out two Black Pencils, its highest accolade. The Japan-based winner was ‘mt expo 2015’, a display for a brand of masking tape, by iyamadesign for Kamoi Kakoshi, which won in the Spatial Design category. The other Black Pencil winner was ‘The World Addressed’, by what3words of the UK in the 'Creativity for Good' category.
Y&R New Zealand was crowned 'Most Awarded Advertising Agency of 2016', thanks to six Yellow Pencils, plus one Graphite and one Wood, for its work with Burger King on the ‘McWhopper’ campaign.
Three agencies won White Pencils: In addition to ‘Clever Buoy’ (by M&C Saatchi for Optus), the winners were ‘Security Moms’ (Ogilvy Brasil for Sport Clube do Recife, Brazil) and ‘Fairphone 2’ (seymourpowell for Fairphone, UK).
Overall 747 Pencils were bestowed:
