BBC Worldwide promotes Monty Ghai to VP position

SINGAPORE - BBC Worldwide Channels has promoted Monty Ghai to vice president of network development for Asia, to further expand its business in the region.

Formerly a director, Ghai will continue to report to Mark Whitehead, GM and SVP of BBC Worldwide Channels Asia, and remains based in Singapore.

In his new role, he will be responsible for identifying opportunities to increase the distribution of BBC Worldwide Channels' portfolio including BBC Entertainment, BBC Knowledge, CBeebies, BBC Lifestyle and BBC World News in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and South Korea.

Working alongside the international strategy team, Ghai will also seek to introduce the channels on new platforms including DTT, IPTV and mobile as well as capitalise on a growing video-on-demand market.

"Monty has been a key player in our Asian business since its launch in 2007 and has been instrumental in getting carriage for our channels in South Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore," said Whitehead.

He added: "In his new role, he'll provide management and leadership to his team and ensure the correct strategy, focus and ambition is in place to help grow our business."
