Vivid scenes from old Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Tourism Board and Grey Group animated scenes painted by local illustrator Flyingpig to create a delightful interactive experience.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board and Grey Group Hong Kong recently created an interactive exhibit that beckoned people into slices of past life in the city, including a traditional tea hall and an outdoor dai pai dong-style restaurant.

The HKTB and Grey commissioned work from local illustrator Flyingpig (Pat Wong Wing Shan) and turned her work into massive interactive digital screens for an exhibit that took place In January and February at PMQ. The project promoted 'Old Town Central', which HKTB markets as a destination.

Ad Nut normally sticks to new campaigns, but in this case the artwork merits attention even though the work took a while to find its way to the old oak tree. The detailed images appear to be glimpses of the past, and perhaps they will soon be. But at least as of today, residents and visitors can, with a little effort, still find such scenes in Hong Kong today.

Here's a selection of the illustrations (click any of the images to enlarge):
