HP touts brainy benefits of video games in China campaign

THE WORK: 'Achieve gamefulness' for HP Omen by Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai.

A growing body of research shows that playing video games, at least in moderation, is associated with mental benefits such as improved response times, spatial awareness, memory and even problem-solving ability. (No respectable science has ever shown a connection between video games and increased tendency toward violence, by the way, but that's a different story.)

Anyway, HP and Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai have decided to play up the beneficial side of gaming in a new campaign for the computer maker's Omen line of gaming devices. You can see the results in the three films above, as well as the posters and GIFs below. There was also a live activation where famous gamers were put into delightfully goofy-looking brain helmets at a large gaming show called ChinaJoy.

According to the agency, the China campaign kicks off a global brand relaunch, with other W+K offices in North America and Europe also releasing work under the new strategy.

Ad Nut finds modern video games far too complicated and demanding, and prefers a nice mindless game of Solitaire or 2048.
