Filipino telco Smart targets long-distance lovers in new TVC

PHILIPPINES - DM9 Jaymesyfu has released a new TVC spot for Smart Communications' internet service, aiming to take the sting out of long-distance love with a reliable internet connection.

The TVC tells the story of two long-distance lovers connecting through a reliable internet connection.

Marco and Meg agree to meet at their usual place through Facebook chat. She races through traffic and up the stairs to a rooftop while Marco waits patiently, staring into the horizon. The lovers meet and share a kiss—moments later revealed to be through an iPad.

Songbird Vanessa Carlton's 'A thousand miles' sets the tone for the ad looking to connect with an all too familiar strain in many Filipinos. The ad implies that with Smart's fast and reliable internet connection, shared moments between long-distance lovers are as good as the real thing.

Speaking of her collaboration with DM9 JaymeSyfu ECD Eugene Demata, the agency's MD and CCO Merlee Jayme said, “Eugene and I thought this love story is a simple way to show that the internet is so much a part of our everyday lives.”

“This idea simply demonstrates how technology brings us closer to each other. And what makes this possible is a good network connection. Technology becomes nothing when the connection is unreliable during times when you absolutely need it. Which, in this day and age, is every minute of the day,” she added.

Since its launch, the TVC has collected more than 30,000 views on YouTube.
