R3 CMO roundtable focuses on growing China challenges

Hyper-competition, rising challenges from local players, and the strategic use of social media featured in a China-focused roundtable discussion including 11 regional marketers, hosted on 29 November by R3. Participants from Unilever, Starwood, Hershey, GSK, Diageo, Samsung and others networked and discussed issues of talent scarcity, functioning in growth-accelerated conditions and how digital and ecommerce are changing the shape of business in China.

Reynold D’Silva (gesturing), global brand director of Pond’s at Unilever, spoke about the increasing competition with over 4,000 beauty brands contending in real and virtual stores and how Chinese consumers were now asking more and more questions about product origination and benefits.
