PEOPLE MOVES

Benoit Garbe is leaving Kantar Vermeer to join Prophet's new Shanghai office officially next month as senior partner, leading the office with new partner Leon Zhang, who also worked for same brand and marketing consultancy (Kantar Vermeer) previously. 

Geometry Hong Kong managing director David Paysant stepped down from his post in July and just joined DigitasLBi this month also as MD.

The Asia Pacific Effie Awards appointed Charles Cadell, president of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific and president and CEO of McCann Worldgroup Japan, as its 2018 awards chairman. The awards, in its fifth year, is organised by the Confederation of Asian Advertising Agency Associations (CAAAA) and Tenasia Group.

ICI Pakistan appointed Raheel Jamal as its brand manager for the Wyeth portfolio. This is Jamal's first switch from Sanofi, where he spent eight years across seven roles since 2009.

Econsultancy appointed Kestrel Lee as principal analyst for Greater China. He will provide weekly updates and articles to Econsultancy’s blog on digital marketing and ecommerce trends in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong while also providing training to marketers in China’s digital marketing and ecommerce ecosystems.

Ogilvy Public Relations Australia appointed Bridget Jung to the newly created position of executive creative director. She joins from Marcel Sydney, where she was creative director. Prior to that she worked in Paris with both DigitasLBi as chief creative officer and ECD at OgilvyOne.

Omnicom Media Group APAC appointed Neeraj Khanna as marketing communications director, reporting to Cheuk Chiang, Asia Pacific CEO. Khanna joins from Dubai, where he served in a similar capacity for the group’s networks across the Middle East and North Africa since 2014.

Philip Morris International appointed Kashan Yaqoob as the senior brand manager for Pakistan. This is Yaqoob's first switch from Engro Foods, where he spent ten years across five roles since 2007.

BUSINESS WINS

Aussie Home Loans appointed Switched on Media as its digital agency following a tender process. The member company of the WPP AUNZ Group will be responsible for digital strategy, planning, media buying and execution across SEM, SEO, display, affiliates, social media, content amplification and CRO.

UM Australia won the national media account for insurer ING, following a review process that began in March.

Blitz Advertising won the creative account for Pak Qatar Takaful Group in Pakistan. [read more]

Club Med appointed W Asia its PR agency to promote the all-inclusive holiday brand in Singapore. It will focus on snow holidays in Japan & China, as well as beach resorts across Southeast Asia. 

Motorola Asia Pacific selected FCB Kuala Lumpur as its regional agency of record following a pitch. The appointment took effect on 29 September and will see the agency handling promotion marketing and activation duties. FCB teams in Ho Chi Minh, Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila and MullenLowe in Singapore contributed to the pitch.

Luxury retail brand Club 21 has appointed Ecselis as its performance marketing agency of record in Singapore, with a mandate to drive e-commerce sales on the brand's online store.

Baskin Robbins appointed Ogilvy & Mather to launch it's inaugural store operations in Pakistan. [read more]

OTHER NEWS

Ziff Davis Lead Gen opened a Singapore office, having launched in Australia last year. The B2B-focused companies' international bulletins cover 22 regions and in 15 local languages including Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Marketing, communications and advisory group Bastion Collective announced a partnership with Australian esports team Avant Gaming, through its events arm, Bastion Live. Avant Gaming has a stable of professional and semi-professional esports teams competing under its banner, including in League of Legends and Counter Strike. Bastion Live will assist with corporate and media partnerships while working to expand Avant’s reach, grow the broader narrative around esports, and create new player career paths beyond the sport.

Malaysia-based Go Communications formalised a partnership with Singapore-based Accela, which incorporates the latter into the Go Group. The network has affiliated agencies in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Japan, China and Hong Kong. 

The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA), appointed six new board members to its Asia Pacific Board of Directors:
