The WFA (World Federation of Advertisers) announced that its next Global Marketer Week will take place in Singapore from 31 March to 3 April 2020, with the support of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).

Digital travel platform Agoda named Ittai Chorev as CMO. Previously VP of marketing, Chorev is now in charge of Agoda's global marketing function, and driving growth in brand awareness. 

OMD Sydney appointed Kim Hamilton and Laura Nice as joint MDs and Nathan Young as national chief operating officer, a new role. Hamilton was previously GM, while Nice is currently with Annalect UK as head of consultancy and development. Young, previously the agency’s chief marketing officer, has served as GM while Hamilton has been on maternity leave. Hamilton will take over as MD upon her return next month, while Nice joins in July, at which time Young will move to his new role. Both MDs will report to OMD Australia CEO Aimee Buchanan. Nice worked at OMD Sydney from 2009 to 2014.

Switch Media announced its entry into the Asia Pacific market and appointed Oscar Gutierrez as VP of business development for the region. 

Following a competitive pitch, WPP AUNZ has been appointed to partner with The Star Entertainment Group’s public relations function, reporting to CMO George Hughes and Anthony Cohen, group general manager of guest experience, sponsorship and PR. WPP AUNZ has created a "new agency model" dubbed ‘The Constellation’ for the client. This brings together a range of communications experts into one team, which will be led by Pulse (the consumer and brand marketing agency of OPR), supported by WPP AUNZ agencies PPR, Maverick and Etcom, working in partnership with media agency Ikon. The Constellation will support The Star Entertainment Group’s overall Australian marketing strategy across its three resorts: The Star Sydney, The Star Gold Coast and Treasury Brisbane.

Proximity appointed Richard Fraser, most recently president of BBDO Southeast Asia and CEO of BBDO Singapore, as CEO in North America. The role is a newly created one reporting to global CEO Doug Worple. Fraser was Proximity's regional MD for Asia, Middle East and Africa, and had spent 14 years at the company, before he took up his BBDO role in 2016.

Australian design, animation and visual effects house Heckler opened a studio in Singapore and appointed Richard Mayo-Smith as managing director and executive producer. The company cited long-term client relationships with brands including Tiger Beer, Nike and SK-II for the decision to launch. Mayo-Smith was previously executive producer at Google Zoo in Singapore for two years, a senior producer at BBH Singapore for five years, and a senior producer at Saatchi & Saatchi and Colenso BBDO in New Zealand.

The Trade Desk officially launched its programmatic ad buying platform in China, which launched as a beta programme in November. The company said the platform has already delivered multi-channel campaigns to China audiences in sectors including hospitality, luxury retail, education, food and beverage and biotech.

Smaato appointed Genelle Hung as director of demand business development in APAC, reporting to Toby Williams, senior director of demand. Most recently she was the director of strategic accounts at Appier. The company also appointed Helene Nguyen in business development, and Lourydie Velasco and Margaret Christany on the demand account management team. Smaato also hired Jane Sng, formerly with Verizon Media (formerly known as Oath), as manager of supply partnerships (APAC).

Isobar Taiwan appointed Oliver Tsai as chief strategy officer. He will spearhead Isobar’s Transformation Consulting practice in Taiwan. He has more than 20 years of marketing experience in strategy and account management, including eight years as Ogilvy & Mather's planning director and three years as director of brand management at FET.  

Uber appointed The Hoffman Agency for public relations in Hong Kong. The agency will be tasked to highlight the positive contribution that Uber can make to Hong Kong’s economy, businesses and residents and the remit covers both Uber's ride-sharing operation and Uber Eats.

Australian agency Atomic 212 is to retain Tourism Northern Territory and Northern Territory Government (worth AUD$27m in combined billings) for a further two years, continuing a partnership that started in 2015, the agency announced. 

Sydney-based digital product and user-experience agency Frank Digital appointed Glen Jeffreys as head of experience design. Jeffreys has over 18 years of experience in the commercial, NGO, government and higher-education sectors. He joins from Deepend Sydney, where he worked as head of user experience.

Indian sport news publisher Cricbuzz appointed Lowe Lintas for creative duties ahead of the cricket season. The agency will develop an advertising campaign for Cricbuzz during the heavily anticipated Cricket World Cup.

The Clio Awards announced the jury for its 2019 awards, which will be handed out in September. The jury, which is divided equally along gender lines and represents 28 countries, includes eight members from APAC agencies:

BBDO India appointed Kunal Solanki as vice-president for its Mumbai office, reporting to Atin Wahal, Executive vice-president and head of BBDO’s Mumbai operations.He joins following a few years developing digital for agencies in Dubai.

In-vehicle interactive advertising companies Movad, based in Ho CHi Minh, and IDOOH, which operates a regional network of in-vehicle screens, signed a memorandum of understanding covering strategic cooperation and product improvement. Movad offers a platform that supports facial-recognition technology and interactive capabilities.

Lazada and Mastercard announced a five-year partnership to grow the e-commerce ecosystem in Southeast Asia (SEA). The two plan to develop joint marketing and education campaigns, as well as reward schemes to drive the use of digital payments. In addition Lazada will be able to access Mastercard’s regional and global sponsorship platforms and access its data  about offline and online behaviors to drive greater e-commerce growth. Finally, Lazada will be the anchor merchant for some new Mastercard solutions in select markets.
