OMD Hong Kong has retained the MTR account and will continue to manage its integrated media communications, in an extension of the 17-year relationship between client and agency. Karen Woo, general manager, branding and marketing at MTR Corporation, said the agency "once again came out on top" with its "solid understanding of our business objectives, challenges and requirements."
Burson Cohn & Wolfe hired two new market leaders. Jeffrey Yu joined as Shanghai market leader from 180 Digital, where he was senior vice president. Before that, Yu was MD of J Walter Thompson in Beijing. Cassandra Cheong joined as Singapore market leader, having been APAC MD of The Hoffman Agency. Cheong was previously at Burson-Marsteller, as deputy Bejing market leader and MD of brand marketing.
Cadreon promoted two new country leaders. Jonathan Beh is now CEO of Cadreon China, and Allan Lina head of Cadreon Philippines. Both will oversee Cadreon's growth in their markets, with China being the adtech unit's fastest growing in the region.
VMLY&R Sydney hired strategist Craig Page to the newly created role of head of planning for the Defence Force Recruitment account, which the agency won recently. Page will lead both the Sydney and Melbourne teams. He was previously executive strategy director at R/GA Sydney.
Grey Manila won a host of accounts across the FMCG and telecoms sectors. These include German honey brand Langnese Honey, health brand DKT International, and a PR remit for PLDT Enterprise.
Air conditioning manufacturer Daikin appointed media strategy company Slingshot in Australia. Slingshot will handle all media strategy, planning and buying for Daikin, effective immediately.
BBDO Guerrero won the creative brief for Grab Philippines next campaign. It will be an integrated campaign promoting all Grab's services, including GrabFood, GrabPay and GrabExpress.
Xaxis appointed Lua Tran as Vietnam director. Tran spent the last six years in New York working for GroupM, Publicis and Dentsu Aegis Network. She will drive Xaxis Vietnam's revenue growth and new business.
Publicis Sapient Australia made several hires in its consulting practice. Jane Headon joined as director of strategy and consulting from Avanade, where she led the strategy practice. Fiona Morphett joined as strategy manager and Christopher Toyberg-Frandzen as consulting manager. Bruce McLeod arrived as associate director of product management.
Strategy and innovation consultancy The Leading Edge hired Erin Beggs as director of brand and innovation. Beggs joined from Ipsos Australia, where she was director of advanced qualitative research.
VMLY&R Indonesia has appointed Din Sumedi as chief creative officer to lead the creative direction from Jakarta. Sumedi, originally from Singapore, has more than 16 years of hands-on advertising industry experience, most recently as chief creative officer for Ogilvy & Mather Indonesia, a role he held for six years. Before this, he was chief creative officer at Lowe & Partners in Jakarta.
Travel marketing data services firm Adara has expanded operations in India, appointing Suchit Huria as sales director based in New Delhi, responsible for growing the firm's footprint in the market and expanding its pool of data partners. With over 13 years of sales experience in the digital marketing industry, Huria was formerly aales director at Httpool, leading sales for brand solutions.
