VivaKi names new heads in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR - VivaKi, Publicis Groupe's consolidated media agency offering, has unveiled its senior managers for Malaysia.

VivaKi names new heads in Malaysia
Nick Drew (pictured left), former general manager for Starcom’s P&G account, has been promoted to managing director of Starcom Malaysia, while Mediavest general manager Wong Pi Yee (right) has been promoted to managing director for Mediavest and Optimedia.

Both Drew and Wong will join Jennifer Yean as the three business unit heads of VivaKi Malaysia. Yean was promoted to general manager from client service director of Starcom Malaysia last year, having overseen the growth of its Digi business.

Drew joined Starcom in New Zealand in January 2007 and will continue to work on the P&G account. Wong has been instrumental in retaining several of MediaVest’s key clients including Petronas, Honda and Media Prima. With 11 years of media experience, she will oversee 20 media specialists in both MediaVest and Optimedia in Malaysia.

“These promotions herald the closing of ranks within our core brands as we strengthen our senior management within Malaysia to lead charge into 2009. Nick, Jennifer and Pi Yee are talented managers who have outstanding understanding of consumer motivation and are able to map them to the dynamic media industry of today. I have every confidence that they will flourish in their new leadership roles as they capture the opportunities arising from the rough economic outlook of this year,” said Yap Chee Weng, CEO of VivaKi Malaysia.

“Starcom, MediaVest and Optimedia will continue to operate independently, developing customised solutions for clients. At the same time, they can tap VivaKi’s advantages of scale, network, resources and proprietary tools to benefit clients and reinforce their clients’ links to consumers in a more cost effective.”
