Star appoints Kong as Chinese-language programming head

HONG KONG - Media and entertainment company Star has appointed Cheah Chee Kong as executive vice president of its Chinese-language programming in Hong Kong.

Cheah, who goes by the name of ‘CheeK’, will reportedly be responsible for the development of Star’s Xing Kong and Chinese Movies channels. Prior to being hired by the News Corporation-owned firm, he was based in Tokyo, where he worked as senior vice-president and creative director of creative and content at MTV Japan.

He will begin his new role in the new year and report to chief operating officer Laureen Ong.
