Ogilvy Thailand names new MD

BANGKOK - Ogilvy & Mather Thailand has named Phawit Chitrakorn as its managing director, with immediate effect.

Having joined the agency in 2003, he was previously the head of client service and played a pivotal role in the development of famous work for clients such as Thai Life Insurance and Karana Travelgear.

Chitrakorn will continue his leadership role across the agency’s clients in the new role, while driving new business growth as well as elevating digital to be an integral part of the business.

Punnee Chaiyakul, chairman at Ogilvy & Mather Thailand, noted that Chitrakorn has always demonstrated great passion, dedication and drive in the eight years he has worked with Ogilvy.

“He has consistently proven that the Ogilvy philosophy ‘great work that works’ can be effectively applied across the Kingdom leading to award-winning work. Under his leadership, the team will ensure Ogilvy & Mather maintains its number one position in the market and ramps up its digital capabilities,” she said.

Commenting on the appointment, David Mayo, president of Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Asia Pacific, said Chitrakorn has a unique ability to build and lead teams that help clients grow their business through creativity.

“His relative youth belies his deep experience in a market that has been built upon creativity in so many forms. He is the perfect leadership fit for our digital future in Thailand and he will use this to play a core part in building our ASEAN presence still further,” he added.

Ogilvy & Mather Thailand rolled out a new campaign for Thai Life Insurance with the 'Silence of Love' TVC going on air throughout the country, in August.
