Internet users to Ftchinese.com and cn.wsj.com, along with locally recognised film review sites mtime.com and ju690.cn, have complained about experiencing error messages.
According to local sources, the blockage began over the weekend with domestic portals like mtime.com and ju690.cn displaying messages of domain registration being locked.
These error messages such as server 'resetting the connection' or 'temporarily unavailable' are thought to have been linked to the fact that international news dailies like the WSJ are not registered locally in China.
Discussions on Chinese forums about the blockage have been steadily heating up with some suggesting that the censorship is due to the content and opinions expressed by the publication's columnists.
Additionally, there are also many suggestions and links online of how Chinese readers can bypass the censorship by changing IP addresses to continue reading.
