Bareface, an ad agency with offices in London, Birmingham and New York, has acquired Invisible Artists, a production studio with locations in Sydney and Singapore.

Invisible Artists founder Dan Day takes up a position as group operations director, a board director role and an equity partner stake at Bareface, which expects the move to help it address client needs in Asia Pacific, including China.

The agency cited Day’s cultural understanding and experience in the region as a significant factor.

“We’re extremely excited about the combination of complementary skill sets," said Simon Morris, Bareface Group MD, adding that the acquisiton also adds "top notch" creative, editing, 3D Animation/CGI and production skills to Bareface's offering, which includes digital marketing, web development and social communities.

Day, who founded Invisible Artists six years ago, said the companies have a similar ethos and that Bareface is "the perfect agency in terms of size, values and structure to build on our desire to grow beyond our current territories".

All Sydney and Singapore staff are being retained, and the company has recently hired Andre Chen, formerly of TBWA Singapore, as account director. Esther Lussier will be executive producer for Asia Pacific (and a board member).

The two companies have already collaborated on the Sydney office’s KIMBY (Koala In My Back Yard) campaign for WWF Australia.
