DIARY: Thumbs-up for New T&F for showing its bare-faced cheek

One thumb, two thumbs, whatever. As far as Diary's concerned it's

the dancing equivalent of having two left feet.

Here we have Hong Kong's telecoms conglomerate PCCW giving itself the

thumbs-up - probably not for its battered performance on the stock in

the past few months. Still, PCCW feels it more than deserves it because

as its ad proclaims: "We're good because we give more out." Not sure

stockholders will agree with PCCW's own assessment.

Going one better is rival NewT&T. It's shown some rarely seen cheek in

Hong Kong's normally staid and stiff business world. Spoofing its

competitor, NewT&T happily printed collateral for a conference, showing

itself out-thumbing its fixed line competitor. Thumbs-up to New T&T.
