In his expanded role, Hogg will be responsible for the overall management and business performance of all of FremantleMedia’s production operations in Australia and Asia. These include local offshoots of the highly popular American Idol television series.

Hogg has worked  within the television industry for 25 years, holding roles both within TV networks and for independent production companies in Australia and Asia. He has been CEO of FremantleMedia Australia since September 2009.

Simon Spalding, regional CEO for Europe and Asia Pacific, says the group was pleased to have Hogg in the newly created role. "We see enormous potential for the Asia-Pacific region and Ian brings a unique combination of experience and expertise that combines knowledge of both the region and our company," he said. "He is perfectly placed to continue to build on our significant creative and commercial strengths in Australia and across Asia, working with our local partners and our wider international network."

For his part, Hogg says he is looking forward to the extra challenge. "I have a deep affinity for the Asian region and the rich cultural diversity of its people and the territories within it," he said. "It is an incredibly dynamic part of the world with a very strong appetite for innovative television programming and I am very excited to be re-engaging with it."

FremantleMedia’s Asian operations were formerly managed by Patrick Schult. He gave notice of
his intent to leave the company earlier this year, citing a desire to pursue new interests and a different career direction.
