IAA names new president and executive director

GLOBAL - Deborah Malone, founder of advertising, publishing and events house The Internationalist, has been named president and executive director of the International Advertising Association (IAA).

The IAA is an international organisation that represents advertisers, agencies and the media. It comprises corporate members, organisational members, educational affiliates as well as 56 chapters  with individual members and young professionals from 76 countries.

Commenting on the appointment, Alan Rutherford, current IAA chairman, said "Deborah is an ideal leader for a contemporary IAA. She is a successful entrepreneur with both vision and the ability to get things done. Her dedication to our industry and her global fluency is unparalleled."

Malone has been a member of the IAA since 1992 when she launched Ad Age International for Crain Communications. In 2003 she founded The Internationalist and will continue to oversee content across all its products while taking on the IAA leadership.

"I seek to help the IAA integrate the tremendous talents of this industry - from advertisers who rely on its vitality for economic development, the media which is so important to social development and education, and the agencies and partners that innovate on behalf of brands and inspire the messages that create value," said Malone.
