Ebay names Gigi Ganatra Duff as new CCO

Online marketplace EBay has appointed Gigi Ganatra Duff as chief communications officer.

EBay is also considering new agency support for corporate communications and product comms, a company spokesperson said. The incumbent firm on that account is Hotwire.

After starting in the role on Monday, Duff is reporting to Ebay chief growth officer Julie Loeger. Duff is leading the global communications team including all internal and external communications, social media, public affairs, ESG communications, the Ebay Foundation and content, according to a company statement. The global communications team at Ebay has about 75 amployees.

The last person in charge of comms at eBay was Michelle Friedman, who was VP of global communications. She joined Samsara, a cloud platform built for tracking and analyzing data from physical operations, in the same role in April.

An eBay spokesperson said the company changed the role’s title to reflect Duff’s “extensive and impressive experience and the breadth of the role she is taking on.”

Duff was not available for comment.

For the last seven years, she worked at Nordstrom as VP of corporate affairs. A spokesperson for the retailer was not available for comment about her replacement.

Before that, Duff was chief marketing officer at Lionheart Capital real estate. Earlier in her career, she was VP of comms for HSN.

In Q2, Ebay saw revenue of $2.57 billion, up 1% year-over-year, and net income was $226 million, up 31% from Q2 2023.

Founded in 1995, Ebay operates in more than 190 markets worldwide. In 2023, the company enabled more than $73 billion of gross merchandise volume, according to an eBay statement.
