Dominos Pizza opens 50th outlet in Malaysia, targets 15 more

IPOH - Domino's Pizza Asia-Pacific Region vice-president Steven Pizziol officially opened the chain’s 50th outlet in Malaysia, as the company plans 15 new stores this year.

The chain is targeting outlying areas of Malaysia, building upon its 13-year presence in the Klang Valley.

Ba U Shan-Ting, chief operating officer of Dommal Food Services, Domino’s Pizza’s sole franchisee in Malaysia, said that Johor Bahru will be among the 15 new outlets opening this year. He told press they are looking at several new locations, adding that customers’ experience of Dominos in Kuala Lumpur is driving demand elsewhere.

Domino's Pizza Malaysia and Singapore executive chairman Datuk George Ting said the company had received requests from consumers as far as East Malaysia to open outlets in their cities.

Rival chain Pizza Hut’s franchisee for Singapore and Malaysia QSR Brands recently launched a RM$2 million (US$650,000) campaign from Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia.
