As part of the sponsorship deal, the golf tournament will create a segment known as the Canon Power Play. Canon will also be able to leverage its brand across the Tour’s worldwide media platforms including its official wesbite and a global television platform, which reaches close to 650 million households. Canon said it will also be doing several on-site branding activities at the event.

“Our partnership with Asian Tour has provided us the opportunity to help in the promotion of golf whose popularity is increasing in emerging countries like India, Indonesia and Myanmar,” said Kensaku Konishi, the president and CEO for Canon South & Southeast Asia.

Kyi Hla Han, the Asian Tour's executive chairman, said the partnership with Canon is another strong endorsement of the cosmopolitan appeal of the Asian Tour, which has established itself "as one of the elite professional Tours in the world after the PGA Tour and European Tour".

Other official sponsors of the tour include Abacus, BlackBerry, Inetol Headwear, Singha Beer, Srixon, Starwood Hotels and Resorts and Rolex.
