For the first time in its 39-year history, a new president-elect was chosen to replace industry veteran Janet Tan-Collis as president of the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS).

During the association’s annual general meeting (AGM), Aloysius Arlando was unanimously chosen as president-elect and will succeed Tan-Collis at the next annual meeting in April 2019. He has served in the executive committee for two terms.

Arlando is one of the most prolific faces representing the business events industry in Singapore as he concurrently serves as president of the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC) and the CEO of SingEx Holdings.

“Aloysius’ stellar career in the private and public sectors, coupled with his industry achievements and now his election as President-elect, recognises the pivotal role SACEOS wants to play in the world of associations on the global stage,” said Tan-Collis.

“We are prepared to disrupt ourselves in more ways than one.”

This week, SACEOS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) to develop a joint “Asia Pacific Executive Development Programme” to “create new strengths relevant for the future-readiness of exhibition professionals in the region”.
